The Lake House Grasmere is a bespoke project involving the demolition of an existing structure and the construction of a new build in the Lake District. Accessible via a single-track route, this project was undertaken for clients seeking a tranquil retreat from city life. The design, developed by Ben Cunliffe Architects, reflects their expertise and attention to detail. We worked closely with their team to execute this design, delivering a serene and well-crafted living space.

Excellence in Design + Craftsmanship

A prominent feature of Lake House Grasmere is the cantilevered staircase with floating treads. This element, executed with meticulous craftsmanship, introduces a refined architectural statement to the property.

Contemporary Living in a Classic Village

The home merges modern architectural benefits with the charm of a traditional honey pot village. Using local stone and materials, the design blends naturally into its surroundings while offering the benefits of a modern world.

Sustainable Design + Construction

This project showcases an eco-conscious timber frame, embodying our dedication to sustainable design. By thoughtfully sourcing local materials, including stone from a nearby quarry, we have significantly reduced the carbon footprint of Lake House Grasmere, harmonising the build with both its environment and our commitment to responsible architecture.

Retaining Walls + Landscape Integration

The retaining walls and hard landscaping at Lake House Grasmere are thoughtfully integrated with the natural landscape. These structures not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the property but also provide essential functional benefits, such as soil retention, improved drainage, and slope stabilisation. Additionally, they help create tiered garden spaces, allowing for more usable outdoor areas while blending seamlessly with the environment.
