HOUSE ON THE HILL TROUTBECK
The House on the Hill is an exemplary design and build project by BRITICAN, situated in Troutbeck. This development combines bespoke interior design with commercial-grade engineering, seamlessly integrating residential design principles to create a visually striking and architecturally sophisticated property.
Designing with Nature
The design of the house balanced modern architectural elements with a timeless rural aesthetic. On one side, expansive glass panels allowed natural light to flood the interior, while the other side showcased a traditional barn-style facade. Key features, such as cathedral ceilings and glazed gables, combined practicality with thoughtful design, ensuring the house blended naturally with its surroundings.
Precision in Design Innovation
We elevated the feature staircase design by incorporating toughened, laminated helical glass. This curved, illuminated staircase added modern sophistication while optimising the flow of natural light from the central atrium. The result was a striking architectural feature that blended elegance and durability, pushing the boundaries of both form and function.
Cathedral Ceilings + Glazed Gables
Drawing on techniques typically reserved for commercial construction, we’ve introduced them into a residential context with careful adaptation. The glazed gable is a standout feature, merging commercial-grade engineering with residential design principles to create a seamless, visually striking architectural statement.
Traditional Block Built with Stone Facing
Our use of traditional block construction with stone facing reflects our commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the area. This method adds a sense of heritage and authenticity, while ensuring the development harmonises with its surroundings. The result is a structure that feels both enduring and fully integrated into the landscape.
